Because this is an online course, it makes more sense to assess your online discussion skills than your verbal discussion skills! For that reason, I am replacing the project that asks you to have a discussion and reflect on it with a project that asks you to participate in a real online discussion.
Towards the very end of the class, you will come to a project titled "Written Response (Project): Group Discussion." The student guide will look like this:

IGNORE THOSE DIRECTIONS!
Instead, we are going to participate in a live, ongoing discussion on the student opinion blog for The New York Times. You will need to do at least two prepared responses (well planned and carefully written responses in paragraph form) and at least two peer responses (responses that continue the conversation by referring to the ideas of peers and providing intelligent and thoughtful commentary).
Directions
Go to The Learning Network blog. Read through the articles and find at least two that interest you.
After reading these articles and getting informed on the topic, enter into at least 2 discussions by commenting on two of the articles with your opinion in carefully written paragraphs.
Read through all of the student responses and comment 2 more times by REPLYING to other people in a way that continues the conversation.
Take screenshots of all 4 of your posts so that I can easily see your participation.
